Transplant patients organize protest against lack of adequate care

Photo: BTA

The transformation of the Sofia clinic of nephrology at Alexandrovska hospital, and of the pulmonary clinic at the Military Medical Academy into Covid wards triggered a wave of outrage among patients and doctors.

This was the reason why a protest was organized today in front of the Ministry of Health building in Sofia. The protesters say that Bulgarian healthcare has abdicated from care for chronic patients in Bulgaria, and chronic patients are becoming hostage to the pandemic. They add that the people hit hardest are transplant patients and patients with oncological and rheumatic diseases who are being denied adequate treatment.
