Catholic priest calls for celebrating Easter together with Orthodox because of election date

"We, the Catholics of the Western rite (0.6% of the population) can celebrate Easter on May 2 together with the the Eastern Rite Catholics and the Orthodox Christians." This was written on the Facebook page of Catholic Priest Paolo Cortesi, chairman of the Cultural Center "Eugene Bossilkov - Belene", on the occasion of scheduling the parliamentary vote on April 4, when Catholics celebrate the Resurrection.

The Catholic priest justified his proposal by saying that the wish of Pope John Paul II and many believers would be for Christians to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ together. "Let's change the date and celebrate on May 2 and on April 4 we would go to the polls," he said.
