With its 426 species of birds, Bulgaria ranks second in Europe in this indicator, but it is also among the richest countries in biodiversity on the Old Continent. Endangered species such as the Imperial Eagle, theGriffon Vulture and other birds of prey and waterfowl are found in Bulgaria.

Among Bulgaria's rarest birds is the Saker falcon, of which 4-5 pairs remain. This was said for BNR Varna by Vladimir Dobrev from the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. There are about 26 pairs of Egyptian vultures in Bulgaria, which is about 60% of the Balkan population of the species.

At Bulgaria's Atanasovsko Lake near Burgas in the complex "Poda" one can see over 300 species of birds.

You can learn about all 426 species of birds in Bulgaria, see and even hear some of them HERE.
