Bulgaria’s tourism industry expects difficult summer season

Between 60% and 70% of the large hotels on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast will not open during the forthcoming summer tourist season, because the foreign guests will be faced with uncertainty, said Georgi Nikolchev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Owners in Tourism. In his view, Bulgaria’s government should take quick measures to negotiate with the main tourist customers – Great Britain, Germany, Russia and Poland. "The European Union’s authorities have not yet adopted uniform rules concerning the tourists traveling within the EU. Such regulations are expected by the end of June, when it will be too late for holiday bookings", noted Georgi Nikolchev.
