One June 10, 1921, Bulgaria’s marine capital Varna was declared a resort town by the local municipal authorities. In 1925, a royal decree was also issued to declare Varna a resort town. Varna attracted many Bulgarian and foreign holidaymakers thanks to the wonderful local conditions for tourism. In 1926, Varna was visited by nearly 12,500 tourists. In 1927, 38,000 holidaymakers visited the coastal town and in 1928, the resort town was visited by 40,000 tourists.
