One June 10, 1921, Bulgaria’s marine capital Varna was declared a resort town by the local municipal authorities. In 1925, a royal decree was also issued to declare Varna a resort town. Varna attracted many Bulgarian and foreign holidaymakers thanks to the wonderful local conditions for tourism. In 1926, Varna was visited by nearly 12,500 tourists. In 1927, 38,000 holidaymakers visited the coastal town and in 1928, the resort town was visited by 40,000 tourists. The first guests were mainly nationals of Czechia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Turkey and Romania. 100 years later, Varna remains an important tourist destination.

At 19.00pm today the Festival and Congress Center-Varna will host a concert on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the declaration of Varna as a resort town. There is no entrance fee to the concert.
