To mark the occasion, an exhibition of photographs opened in the garden in front of the National Theatre building, of Sonya Yoncheva’s performances on the world’s opera stages through the years.

There has been a lot of news about Sonya Yoncheva these past few days. Her managers announced that she had won the “Singer of the year” award of the prestigious “Opus classic 2021” for her album “Rebirth” in English. The official award ceremony will take place on 10 October at the “Konzerthaus” in Berlin. Alongside the classical repertoire, the album “Rebirth” features a popular Bulgarian folk song (Lamb bleating), plus ABBA’s “Like an Angel passing through my room”.
