On November 1, the Bulgarian energy regulator approved the price of natural gas for households, district heating companies and some enterprises on the regulated market. It is 93 BGN per megawatt-hour.
The nationally represented employers' organizations opposed this decision on the grounds that it puts businesses at a disadvantage as they need to pay nearly 30% more on the free market. In response, the energy regulator pointed out that the price had been approved in accordance with the Energy Law and all decisions on the price of natural gas on a monthly basis concern only consumers on the regulated market. Employers are calling on the state to change this imbalance, otherwise they would refer the issue to the European Commission.
