A quarter of a million people in Bulgaria have lost their jobs since the beginning of 2021

The number of newly registered unemployed in the country in the period from the beginning of the year up until 21 November is in excess of 250,000.

206,000 people have found jobs via employment agencies over the same period, indicate latest data from a specialized survey by the National Statistical Institute and the National Employment Agency for the period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The number of newly registered unemployed, 5,241,during the last week under review – 15-21 November – is considerably higher than the number of people who have started work – 2,869. The number of newly unemployed is highest in the regions of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Vidin, Vratsa, Kyustendil, Stara Zagora and Haskovo.

In 2020 the number of people registered at employment agencies was over 418,000, and the number of people who started work - 249 380.
