Three projects by Bulgartransgaz have been included in the list of Projects of Common Interest. The first project is the expansion of the Chiren gas storage facility, which envisages almost doubling the capacity for storing natural gas and increasing the possibilities for injecting gas in it, which will stimulate the entry of new participants on the market. Additional funds from Europe are also expected for the gas connection with Serbia as co-financing of 28 million euros has already been secured. The third project is the expansion of Bulgaria’s gas transmission network. It includes modernization of compressor stations, construction of new gas pipelines and renovation of old ones.
Bulgartransgaz points out that the inclusion of these projects in the EU list shows the strategic role of the Bulgarian gas transmission system for security of supplies and integration of the gas markets in the region.
