Bulgaria expects the dialogue with North Macedonia to lead to actual results. This was what President Rumen Radev said in a telephone conversation with EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, on the initiative of the commissioner. The President also expressed the readiness of this country for dialogue and clear questions, to which he expects answers and real actions from Bulgaria’s neighbor.

According to Rumen Radev, bilateral relations between Sofia and Skopje should not be subject to external influences. The dialogue must be conducted openly and with commitment on both sides, which will lead to progress in the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The head of state highlighted as the main focus of the talks the respect for the rights of citizens of North Macedonia with Bulgarian identity, as well as respect for Bulgarian history and cultural heritage and the permanent eradication of hate speech in North Macedonia.
