The Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia and the Prespa Agreement between Greece and the Balkan country should be included in the framework of EU negotiations of Bulgaria's southwestern neighbor.

This is what President Rumen Radev said at his meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The two agreed that the European integration of North Macedonia is of the interest of the entire region, but the process must be linked to respect for European values and the commitments made in bilateral agreements.

The two identified the construction of a gas interconnection and the improvement of transport connectivity between Bulgaria and Greece as a priority, including building new border checkpoints.
