Price of natural gas rises on January 1

Photo: BGNES

In January, the price of natural gas will rise significantly more than the previously projected 14.5%, it has became clear at the public discussion in the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. The chairman of the regulator, Ivan Ivanov, pointed out as the main reason was the rise in prices on the European stock exchanges.

Bulgargaz CEO Nikolay Pavlov added that supplies for the winter had been provided, while consumption was currently at the highest level for the past 10 years.

The two called on the government to find a way to compensate the district heating companies, which after the moratorium on heating prices would buy gas at a higher price and sell it cheaper.

The final price for the beginning of 2022 will be approved on January 1.
