War in Ukraine is affecting Bulgarian tourism

Photo: archive

Because of the war in Ukraine there have already been cancellations from abroad, tour operators say. Hotel operators in the winter resort of Bansko expect 100% of the reservations from Russia and Ukraine to be cancelled because of the war and the halted flights.

But this does not affect winter tourism only, there are hotels on the Black Sea cost where more than 4,000 overnight stays for the summer season have been cancelled. The risk of losing foreign tourists is growing more and more tangible because Bulgaria is so near the military operations.
