"If necessary, NATO forces can be stationed on Bulgarian territory, but this will be done according to a certain procedure," said the new Minister of Defence Dragomir Zakov. He stressed that NATO is not a dirty word and that our country is a member of the Alliance.

According to the Minister, the deployment of NATO troops is not possible with a single phone call: "This is a decision-making process in which Bulgaria participates and is part of NATO's decisions."

Dragomir Zakov also said that the security of Bulgaria on the Black Sea border is guaranteed.

"NATO is already activating response plans, and the Black Sea is part of this area of NATO's responsibility," he argued.
