Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov had a telephone conversation with US Vice President Kamala Harris. The talk was initiated by the US. Harris thanked Bulgaria for the humanitarian aid it provides to Ukraine, as well as for welcoming refugees from the war.
The number of refugees has already reached 2.8 million. According to the border police, more than 78,000 Ukrainian citizens have entered Bulgaria. 37,000 of them have chosen to stay in the country.
"There are Bulgarians blocked in Berdyansk and unfortunately at this stage the situation there is very difficult. 160 cars from Mariupol escaped during the bombing and reached Berdyansk, but there are no Bulgarians among them," Anton Markov, director of the situation center at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
