Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the UN to "act immediately" or "dissolve completely" during a speech showing shocking footage of corpses - including children - which he said were victims of the Russian military. Zelensky called on the Security Council to expel Russia "so that it cannot block decisions regarding its own aggression."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the Bucha casualties were a "provocation" aimed at scuppering talks between Moscow and Kyiv.

China is not inclined to indifferently monitor the situation in Ukraine or "adding fuel to the fire", said Beijing's permanent representative to the UN Zhang Jun. "We sincerely want peace. China will continue to advance peace talks and play a constructive role in helping to resolve the crisis in Ukraine," the diplomat said.

The United States is allocating an additional $ 100 million for anti-tank systems to Ukraine, said Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Estonia has handed over to Ukraine anti-tank missiles, mines and howitzers, automatic weapons, grenade launchers and ammunition, the Estonian embassy in Kyiv said. The Czech Republic has sent tanks and armored vehicles to Ukraine, Reuters reported.

More than 60 percent of Russia's foreign exchange reserves worth than $ 350 billion have been frozen as a result of Western sanctions against Russia's war in Ukraine, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said.

The EU will announce a fifth package of sanctions against Russia. The new restrictions include a ban on imports of Russian coal, a total ban on transactions with four Russian banks, the closure of European ports for Russian ships, a ban on Russian companies participating in public procurement in the EU, and additional restrictions on exports to Russia.

The United Nations Migration Agency estimates that more than 11 million people have fled their homes in Ukraine since the Russian invasion. More than 7.1 million of them have been displaced in Ukraine.
