EC President Ursula von der Leyen pays visit to Bulgaria

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen arrives in Bulgaria today to confirm support for Bulgaria’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. "The plan totals over 6.6 billion euros as the national co-financing is over 1 billion euros," Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev said. Bulgaria is expected to reduce its carbon emissions without shutting down coal facilities in the Maritsa East Basin. Bulgaria will conduct work on geothermal energy research, construction of photovoltaic parks for heating and STEM centers in schools, social inclusion programs, purchase of medical helicopters.

Ursula von der Leyen will meet with Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, ministers and party representatives in the ruling coalition. She will also visit Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", where she will get acquainted with projects of innovative companies.
