Prime Minister Kiril Petkov described the information that he had personally assumed commitments for the lifting of the veto on North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations as fake news.

He used the same words to describe the accusations by GERB party, that businesses are not receiving full compensation for the expensive electricity. The Bulgarian Prime Minister said further that payment for Russian natural gas will be in “normal currency”, assurances of which he has been given by the European Commission.

Answering a question whether there is any danger of Bulgaria being left without gas if Greece refuses to pay in rubles, Kiril Petkov said: “I do not think that Russia can afford to lose the entire European Union”.
