Prime ministers of Bulgaria and North Macedonia meet today

Photo: library

As part of the traditional Bulgarian visit to Rome and the Vatican on the eve of May 24, Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will visit the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, where Pope Adrian II blessed the Slavic alphabet and books. Afterwards, PM Petkov will meet with a delegation from North Macedonia led by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski.

The meeting will take place amid tensions over Bulgaria's veto on start of EU membership talks with North Macedonia.

A few days ago, in a video address, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov called on President Rumen Radev to convene the National Security Advisory Council to discuss the progress of negotiations between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.
