A minority government is much better than having one's arms twisted. This is what Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said at a press conference after Slavi Trifonov announced that he was withdrawing the ministers of There is Such a People party and announced the end of the coalition.
He explained that at today's government meeting, at which the budget update was discussed, Regional Development Minister Grozdan Karadjov from the quota of "There are such people" had asked for an unprecedented increase of his ministry's budget by 1.84 billion euros so that money owed to the same companies, which in recent months were investigated by Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov, could be paid.

The allocation of additional funds under existing contracts for the construction of the Hemus highway was a joint decision of the government, Minister of Regional Development Grozdan Karadjov said.

"We will not spend a single lev in a way that is out of control," Petkov emphasized. He said the reforms and anti-corruption measures promised by We Continue the Change would be implemented, with the current Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov to head the Anti-Corruption Commission.

The co-chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria" Hristo Ivanov expressed hope that ITN will return to the negotiating table because it is dangerous for the state to be thrown into another chaos. He acknowledged that the coalition needed to rethink the way it works, BNR reporter Dobrina Karambolova said.

"Elections now mean more chaos, deepening crises, lack of adequate decisions and uncertainty, and we cannot allow this to happen," BSP leader and Minister of Economy, Korneliya Ninova said, BGNES reported.
