Annual inflation rate at almost 16%

The annual inflation rate for May 2022 compared to May 2021 is 15.6%, National Statistical Institute data published today show.

The monthly inflation rate – May compared to April 2022 – is 1.2%. The steepest monthly price rise is of transport services, electricity costs, water and central heating, as well as food – from 1.5% to 3.2%. Entertainment and culture are the only spheres in which a decline in prices has been registered.

Within the space of one month the price of bread has gone up by 9.4%, of potatoes by 14%, of sugar by 5.3%. The price of cucumbers has gone down by 25%, of peppers by 18%, of leaf vegetables by 7.4%.
