"Blue card" for the hiring of highly qualified specialists from third countries

MPs from "We Continue the Change" and "Democratic Bulgaria" submitted a draft with amendments to the Labour Migration and Labour Mobility Act, which provides for easier employment of highly qualified specialists from third countries.

The amendments concern the issuance of the so-called "Blue Card", which will also be available to beneficiaries of temporary or international protection status.

The texts also provide for the recognition of experience for professionals who do not have a university degree but are nevertheless highly qualified in the field in which they work.

The reasoning for the changes points out that the relaxed terms will attract highly qualified specialists from Moldova, Belarus and Russia who have been forced to change their place of work because of the war in Ukraine. There will also be "recognised employers" who will use a faster procedure. The proposals are backed by the IT sector associations and have to pass the consultations in committees and in plenary.
