Value added tax (VAT) on sunflower oil, fruit and vegetables to be reduced to 9% for a year from 1 July is the proposal of Parliament Agriculture Committee Chairman Plamen Abrovsky and his fellow members of There Is Such a People party.
The proposal was tabled before the second vote on the state budget updateThe reasoning is that the reduced VAT rate will keep price growth as low as possible and preserve, albeit partially, the purchasing power of the population.

Zero VAT on flour is also proposed for the same period to mitigate the burden of high bread prices on households.
