Road companies start protest because of unpaid money

On July 27, road maintenance companies hold protests and will block traffic in the center of Sofia and in over 20 points throughout the country.

After October, there will be no road maintenance, the chairman of the "Roads" Branch Chamber, Stefan Chaikov, said. 80 companies have not received their money under old agreements and new ones have not been signed with them. The road companies are waiting for more than 360 million euros from the state for completed activities. Chaikov called on the parliament to task the government with solving the issue.

Nastimir Ananiev, MP of "We Continue the Change", commented that the money is not being transferred because the interdepartmental commission, which checked 906 assignments, found violations in 79% of them.
