"For months, or perhaps for more than a year, an alarming rise in crime has been noticed; migrant pressure and crimes related to the migrant crisis are on the rise, as well as drug trafficking," Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev has told journalists. He referred to the serious incident in Burgas, which led to the death of two policemen and called for cooperation between institutions.

"Neither the prosecutor's office can deal with crime alone, nor the Ministry of Internal Affairs, nor the court. This is a system of bodies. The war between institutions leads to what we see - death on the road, death of policemen, robbed elderly people, while we are here to we work for the Bulgarian citizens as they pay our salaries," Geshev said.
