European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Ylva Johansson expects Bulgaria to join the measures proposed by the European Commission to cancel the eased issuance of visas for Russians. Asked whether Bulgaria is also expected to implement the new measures agreed for the countries of the Schengen area, Johansson said that she expected the EU countries that are not yet part of Schengen to implement the proposed changes.

The European Commissioner added that there was no more room for trust between the EU and Russia, and therefore only humanitarian and not tourist visas should be issued to Russian citizens.

The period for applying for visas will be extended, and the fees will increase from 35 euros to 80 euros, BTA reports.
