The Georgi Bogdanov-Boris Missirkov tandem – emblematic names in Bulgarian contemporary art – are once again challenging the Bulgarian public. In their exhibition “The cars we drove into capitalism” they explore the phenomenon of socialist-era cars in Europe and their present owners. The exhibition at the National Gallery in Sofia, along with a documentary, also called “The cars we drove into capitalism”, will be on until the end of November.
The socialist-era cars as a phenomenon of the past and present is shown in five thematic sections that feature holograms, small-scale models, installations made of Instagram photographs, as well as portraits of the proud latter-day owners of such vehicles.
