The second day of the two-day inspection in Bulgaria conducted by representatives of the European Commission on Bulgaria’s readiness for the Schengen area ended yesterday. An official review of the inspection has not been provided, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov said at a briefing. According to him, the inspection was successfully completed.
The report based on the inspection will be discussed at expert’s level on October 26. If the opinions were positive, a decision should be made in the Justice and Home Affairs Council on December 8 and 9, Milkov said.
According to him, now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has to make lobbying efforts at various levels in order to guarantee a positive decision in December. He also said that a resolution on the membership of Bulgaria and Romania in Schengen is to be adopted during the next EP session that will take place between October 17 and 20.
