On the morning of November 1, Russian drones struck the Ukrainian regional center of Poltava. Civilian homes were hit and a fire broke out at the site of the explosions, the head of the military administration, Dmytro Lunin reported. Many of the attacking drones were shot down, UNIAN reports.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 45 Russian cruise missiles out of 55 fired on October 31 against Ukrainian cities, were destroyed by the air defense. On the 250th day of the war, Zelensky announced that Russia had fired 4,500 missiles at his country. Speaking to the International Bar Association he expressed hope that those involved in war crimes would be held accountable before a special tribunal.

One of the Russian missiles fired against Ukraine on October 31 landed in Moldova. In response, Chișinău expelled a Russian diplomat from the country.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin admitted that the latest massive shelling of Ukrainian cities was in retaliation for the attack against the Russian Black Sea fleet in occupied Sevastopol. "It is partly so. But that's not all we could do," Putin told journalists, Interfax reports.
