Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev has sent letters to the European leaders in which he calls on them to support the full membership of Bulgaria and Romania in Schengen.

"Bulgaria's will, capacity and dedicated efforts to be part of the Schengen area are an expression of our solidarity with our European partners, it is time for this approach to be reciprocal," the head of state wrote.

He also suggested to the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte that the reservations expressed by the Netherlands about the admission of the two countries to Schengen should be discussed at expert meetings. "We are ready to provide additional information and respond to concerns," Rumen Radev points out.
In the letters, the president expresses confidence that at the upcoming December meeting of the Council on Justice and Internal Affairs, Bulgaria and Romania will be supported by the EU leaders.
