Working group to monitor issues along Bulgarian-Turkish border

A permanent working group in cooperation with Turkey will be dealing with problems related to the protection of the border. Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev told the MPs in the National Assembly that Bulgaria was in constant contact with neighboring Turkey and that all measures have been taken to protect both the border and the officers.

According to Demerdzhiev, the migration pressure towards Bulgaria has been rising, but the Bulgarian border authorities are handling the situation very well. Unfortunately, the officers guard the border with their bodies because of technical deficiencies, the Minister of the Interior said and added that actions were taken for increased technical provision, using the available resources of the Ministry of Interior.
