The fascinating world of Iranian art and handicrafts will be presented in the Regional Ethnographic Museum of Plovdiv. The exhibition "The Magic of Iranian Arts and Crafts" opens on December 13 and was organised on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and 70 years of cultural relations between Bulgaria and Iran.

The works of the master craftsmen reveal the unique beauty of Iranian art and impress with their elegance, patterns and designs, revealing bits of the ancient Iranian tradition and culture. Visitors to the museum will be able to see examples of Iranian crafts that have been preserved for millennia, such as "Ghalamzani" - artistic engraving on metals; "Minakari" – the art of of enameling; "Khatamkari" – a type of marquetry, as well as the art of Persian carpets.

Carpet making is still one of the most practiced crafts in Iran. Although today this process is mostly mechanized, nearly 1.2 million Iranians continue to be involved in making of the famous Persian carpets, both for export and for sale in the country. The largest hand-made carpet in the world, covering an area of 5625 square meters, was also made in Iran.

The exhibition in Plovdiv will be open until mid-January 2023.
