For Our Children Foundation has helped more than 800 children and their families through its "Mission Ukraine in Bulgaria" program, its coordinator Vesela Ananieva told BNR.

Since last April, the organisation has provided humanitarian aid in the form of food, sanitary kits, access to education and community services in its two centres in Sofia and Plovdiv. "Unfortunately, the war continues and it is not known whether the declaration of peace will put an end to the refugees' problems," Vesela Ananieva said.

She highlights some of the challenges - the lack of access to kindergartens for children so their mothers can start working; the mismatch of the two education systems in terms of age and grades; and the difficulties of online learning due to the power outage in Ukraine. The foundation plans to assist about 450 more families, the coordinator added.
