Providing arms to Ukraine will not solve Bulgaria's defense problems: President Radev

The political class in Bulgaria lacks understanding and consensus regarding the vision for the development of Bulgaria's defense, said Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev

In front of journalists, at the annual conference of the head of defense Emil Eftimov, Radev emphasized that a significant number of political parties in Bulgaria see the armed forces not as a guarantor of the country's security, but as a donor for the armed forces of Ukraine.

Again at the conference, caretaker Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov indicated to journalists that he did not expect Bulgaria to receive funds by the end of the year from the European Peace Facility (EPF) for the equipment and humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine, although it has applied and sent the necessary documents, like Poland, which has requested the recovery of funds worth 1.5 billion euros
