The campaigning for the election for members of the 49th National Assembly of Bulgaria begins at midnight tonight.
5,621 candidates will be vying for a seat in the 240-seat parliament, some have been registered in two electoral lists, Central Election Committee spokesperson Rositsa Mateva announced. 14 parties, 7 coalitions and 2 independent candidates will be taking part in the 2 April election. For the first time in Bulgaria, at these elections there will be video surveillance. Election campaigning has to take place in the Bulgarian language.
