Prosecutor's office opens 140 pre-trial proceedings for election violations

The prosecutor's office has opened 140 pre-trial proceedings and 859 files for crimes against citizens' political rights, the institution announced. The data refer to the period from the beginning of the election campaign until today. 


The largest number of pre-trial proceedings related to the parliamentary elections were instituted in the big cities: Sofia – 46, Burgas – 30, Varna – 29. 

Earlier today, the Ministry of the Interior announced that 126 people were detained for election violations and 143 proceedings have been initiated.
