Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Health Asen Medzhidiev is to propose amendments to the Health Act aimed at abolishing the compulsory isolation of persons infected with Covid-19 and the mandatory quarantine of the contact persons, the Health Ministry said.

On May 5, the World Health Organization declared an end to global Covid health emergency. Following an analysis of the epidemic situation in Bulgaria, the low incidence rate and the low rates of hospitalization and mortality, experts from the Ministry of Health reached a consensus to propose a legislative change that would allow the repeal of the current mandatory isolation and quarantine, the ministry said.
