Orange code for heavy rainfall for today for 9 regions in Western and Central Bulgaria

Despite the torrential rains, the traffic situation in Sofia is normal

An orange code for heavy rainfall has been announced also for today for 9 regions in Western and Central Bulgaria. The code is yellow for 7 regions in Central, North and South-West Bulgaria.

All roads and streets in Sofia and the neighborhoods of the city are open to traffic. 120 signals of flooded basements and buildings were received following yesterday's heavy rain. There are no reports of injured people. The situation is under control, said the mayor Yordanka Fandakova. The most rain fell in the Simeonovo and Dragalevtsi neighbourhoods, where basements and buildings are still being drained.

The dams on the territory of the municipality are being released in a controlled manner. The teams of the emergency unit and the fire department are working on the drainage. 

The situation was difficult in Zhelyava, Buhovo, Kremikovtsi. A woman was evacuated in Buhovo. Four teams are on the scene, along with firefighters. The road lanes of the ring road in the Simeonovo area have been drained. In Dragalevtsi and Simeonovo, the streets are being cleaned of sediment. The work continued throughout the night, informed Krasimir Dimitrov - director of the Emergency Unit in Sofia.
