Camping on the Black Sea coast to be regulated

MPs, representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Tourism, NGOs and mayors agreed to introduce rules for camping on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The decision was taken during a roundtable organised in Parliament by the group "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB).

The NGOs argued that the necessary conditions should be provided for this form of tourism and municipalities should not neglect campers

Shabla Mayor Marian Zhechev, as a representative of the municipalities, complained that wild camping has gotten out of control. The campers do not collect their own waste and it is up to the municipalities to bear the costs and take care of keeping the campsites clean. According to PP-DB MP Ivaylo Mirchev, the regulation should be ready by the end of the year and take into account the concerns of both those wishing to camp and local authorities.
