The Bulgarian passport opens an increasing number of borders

Holders of a Bulgarian passport can enter the territory of 176 destinations, which places them in 13th place in the Henley & Partners Passport Index. In the third quarter of 2023, Bulgaria shares the position with Monaco and Romania. In 2022, Bulgaria held 17th place alongside Croatia.

Singapore ranks first with visa-free access to 192 countries. Germany, Italy and Spain take second place. Holders of their passports have access to 190 destinations. The US is ranked 8th, which has been its lowest position in the survey that includes a total of 184 countries.

The index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association - IATA. It tracks 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations.
