Bulgarian football fans were attacked last night in Skopje just minutes before the start of the UEFA Europa Conference League match between Shkupi and Levski Sofia as one of the fans was later taken to hospital with stab wounds. Nineteen Bulgarian citizens were detained after clashes with the police erupted. Today 11 of them were released and are on their way to Bulgaria under police escort.

The Bulgarian consul in Skopje has visited the victim in the hospital and it became clear that his condition is stable and there is no risk to his life. The Bulgarian ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia has held a conversation with the competent authorities and insisted on an urgent clarification on the case, as well as ensuring the safety of Bulgarian football fans, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BNR.
