Rescue operation for a young stork in the village of Tochilari

Photo: Kubrat Municipality

Employees of Kubrat Municipality have rescued a stork in a helpless state. The stork got entangled in a piece of rope and in the wires next to the nest and was hanging in the air. With the help of a forklift it was released. During the initial examination, it was found out that the bird had injuries on its wings and a possible fracture of one leg, therefore it was urgently transported to the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water in the city of Ruse. There, the stork was fed and separated in a special cage, after which it continued its journey to the Rescue Center for Wild Animals in Stara Zagora, BTA reports.

Dozens of storks arrive in the municipality of Kubrat every spring from the warm southern countries. One of the villages with the biggest number of stork nests is Bozhurovo, with 24 in total.
