The Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York hosted an emotional Bulgarian evening. On the occasion of Bulgaria’s Independence Day, dozens of Bulgarians and their families met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel, the press center of the department informed.

"A charging and cordial meeting with the Bulgarian community in New York on the occasion of Bulgaria's Independence Day. History, culture, talents - thank you for the warm welcome and shared experience," Mariya Gabriel wrote later on Facebook.

In the greetings of both the Deputy Prime Minister and the Consul General of Bulgaria in New York, Angel Angelov, special attention was paid to the successes of Bulgarian diplomacy, which made possible the Declaration of Independence of Bulgaria 115 years ago.

The talented pianist and composer from the Bulgarian community Lora Al-Ahmad performed the Bulgarian national anthem

Bulgaria's first diplomat was in New York for the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. She also leads the Bulgarian delegation to the upcoming second session of the Bulgaria-US Strategic Dialogue on September 25 in Washington.
