The first barrel of young wine from the 2023 harvest was opened in Plovdiv, marking the beginning of the 15th edition of the "Young Wine Parade".

Then an actor portraying Dionysus, the god of wine, led the procession to the Old Town. It was accompanied by folk dances performed by the Trakia ensemble.

Wine and food were provided by 50 wine producers and 17 caterers. "There is no bad time to drink wine. There is only good and bad wine. The time for drinking wine is always good," said Lyubozar Fratev, president of the Plovdiv Tourist Council.

At the event, the Ministry of Tourism stressed that winemaking was on the list of intangible world heritage and that a regulation would soon be adopted to put up signboards indicating all the wineries so that tourists could find their way around more easily, reports BGNES. The parade will last until 26 November.
