The collection is an annual publication of the League of Bulgarian Writers in the US and the World. It is called Luboslov, after the title of the first Bulgarian cultural almanac abroad, published by Konstantin Fotinov in 1844 in Smyrna.
This year, the almanac features 54 authors. Of them, 24 live and work outside the country, the rest – in Bulgaria. The authors included from Chicago are familiar names – Mihail Tsvetanski, Elka Bardarova, Ivan Todorov, Kalina Tomova, Kostadin Zhekov. Besides poetry and prose, the almanac also includes photographs, paintings, reproductions of sculptures by Bulgarian authors. The layout is by artist Mariana Kalacheva from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, BNR’s correspondent in Chicago Elena Tsaneva reports.
