Bulgarian poultry farmers to demand money because of Ukraine: Agriculture Minister

According to the new regulation on the control of the movement of goods with a high fiscal risk, a large part of food products, including fruits and vegetables, are high-risk goods and are under special control by the tax authorities. Asked why this is so, Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Kiril Vatev told BNR that all processed products such as sausages are excluded from the regulation, because the biggest frauds happen with the raw materials.

According to the claims of branch organizations that poultry meat and eggs from Ukraine are offered on the Bulgarian market as Bulgarian, he pointed out that all eggs have a stamp for the country of origin and so far no Ukrainian eggs have been found in Bulgarian packaging.

The minister noted that the country has modern farms and a huge potential to feed over 30 million people. But unfortunately, with a population of 6.5 million, "we import almost everything", pointed out the minister.
