Constitutional Court opens proceedings on amendments to the Basic Law

48 MPs signed a petition against the constitutional changes

The Constitutional Court has opened a case on a petition by 48 MPs from the Vazrazhdane and There Is Such a People parties to review the constitutionality of the amendments to the Basic Law adopted by Parliament.

The 48 deputies are challenging all the newly adopted texts. According to Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of Vazrazhdane, the complaint is accompanied by 40 pages of arguments.
Head of State Rumen Radev also referred the constitutional amendments to the Constitutional Court. Some of the arguments relate to the limitation of presidential powers to appoint a caretaker government and the possibility of dual citizens becoming MPs and ministers.
