Border control between Bulgaria and Romania on the Danube will continue after 31 March

Border checks between Bulgaria and Romania on the river Danube will continue after the two countries’ accession to the Schengen area by air and water on 31 March, a European Commission source told the BNR, adding that river borders between the member countries are regarded as land borders, and border control will remain at them for Bulgaria and Romania.

As of 6 AM on 21 March, truck traffic is intensive at the exit on the border with Romania, at the border check points Vidin and Durankulak, Kardam and Oryahovo, the Border Police have announced.

On the border with Turkey, traffic is intensive, at the exit, at the border check points Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo.

On the border with Greece, traffic is intensive at Kulata border check point, at the exit for trucks.

 Traffic is normal on the borders with Serbia and North Macedonia.
