At its sitting today, the government, of which outgoing Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said would be the last during his term of office, decided to distribute EUR 138 million to level out the differences in salaries in the individual administrations, as of 1 January, 2024.

Nikolai Denkov said that during the additional, 10th month of work of the regular government, Bulgarians were given the opportunity of travelling freely within the Schengen area by air and sea, and that given there is political stabilization, a decision will be made by the end of the year regarding the land borders as well.

More funding has been provided to farmers, for the construction of churches and for Bulgarians abroad. A new draft of the Judiciary System Act is up for public discussion.

“Without this law the constitutional changes cannot bring about a genuine reform in the judiciary, so that the public can gain a sense of justice in their lives,” PM Denkov said.

Earlier in the day, a protest of civil servants took place in front of the Council of Ministers building demanding higher pay.
